Now I like the pastel purple itself but overall, I'd have to say the shoe is kind of dull looking. There isn't much "embroidery" on the shoes and the adjacent colours are too close in shades (of purple). This makes each shoe look like one continuous slab of material, especially if you're looking at them within say...10 feet. I would darken up the tongue to the purple tone as shown on the bottom left of the photo and apply the clay colour on the outsoles of the shoe, including where the outsole curls up to the toe of the shoe. This would give it more colour definition and colour balance to complement the yellow font and the black Nike logo.
As for the photo itself, what makes it cool is that it gives the illusion that Nike Swoosh on her right shoe changes colour as it upticks onto her other shoe.
