This Company Operates in Australia Too!!
To Aussie viewer...
You want to know who's been tossing me around like a piece of joke and you need to notify the rest of your Aussie buddies too.
A lot of you probably don't realize that the Nanaimo Canadian Diabetes Association is in allegiance with the Nanaimo Value Village. This outlet often reaches out to random households, via cold calls (what a telemarketer does), to ask for donations of your gently used items. Initially, like many of you, I thought our donations would be to primarily assist in funding for a diabetic cure.
While this serves as a quick and convenient way to unload a lot of your space-hogging items at once, this organization is gathering your goods that you thought were going towards a needy cause, is actually mostly benefiting the Nanaimo Value Village. Only 1% of the Nanaimo Value Village proceedsare given back to the Nanaimo CDA. This is in accordance with the knowledge of a former employee who has worked in that very store in the not-too-distant past. That's why their selection of goods is so vast compared to other 2nd-hand stores. You are being "mislead" into thinking that your donations are being used the way you intended them to be. You are actually helping the rich get richer.
One other thing to note, who's to say that the 1% isn't fibbed? For example, let's say the payout to CDA on a given day is $500. Who's to say that it isn't really half a percent of the day's overall proceeds?? Does the store actually show the CDA its financial statements? I doubt it but it's a moot point now since their credibility is sketchy since they have supported slander.
The number one reason why I'm throwing this organization under the bus is because they harassed me this past Monday (Jun 20) & Tuesday (Jun 21). I had clearly told them of my disdain for that store and yet, they proceeded to phone me 2 more times!! When I tell them that the DM has banned me from all Vancouver area stores because of a slanderous remark, I'd expect the CDA to question its allegiance with VV, let alone to cease all calls directed my way. Why should I support a local organization that is in allegiance with my backstabber?? By disregarding my request, I'd have to consider that as disrespect and harassment. They make Marlene (store manager), and Brenda Beecroft (DM) become hypocrites. If they ban me from their stores for harassing both the employees & customers, albeit the claims were falsified, then for the store(s) within the company to retain credibility, VV's partner should also conduct themselves in a way that doesn't breach what Value Village "preaches".
Next time when you come across a red (it's blue now), metal CDA drop bin (in Nanaimo) that reads: "We really need your donations!" those donations are needed to fund the Nanaimo VV's profit margins. Think twice before dropping your good quality items in there, that can be used to serve a more appropriate function.
☼ Did you know...
Not all VV stores use the same partners to gather up your goods. For instance, the Victoria store partners up with the Big Brothers of Victoria to stock up its shelves. Be sure to find out each store's allegience(s) before you make your donations!!
